Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) announced Wednesday that it has nominated Michel Pagé to the position of superintendent of education.

Pagé is currently a Grade 7 and 8 principal at École secondaire catholique Algonquin in North Bay.

Over the course of his career, he has been a teacher, a pedagogical educational co-ordinator, a School Effectiveness Framework leader and a principal at six schools.

Pagé’s many accomplishments include implementing a system of personalized profiles for literacy and numeracy, developing a challenge-based learning system for holistic skills development and implementing a remedial plan to raise student EQAO test results, said a press release from the school board.

He has also worked as a trainer for the Principal’s Qualification Program and developed an authentic leadership training program. Pagé holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Laurentian University, a bachelor of arts and a master’s degree from the University of Ottawa and a Supervisory Officer’s Certificate.

He will assume his new position on June 25 at the latest.

The board is pleased to welcome Pagé to its administrative team, said the press release.

“With his knowledge of the educational environment, his human and collaborative approach and his effective leadership skills, Mr. Pagé will certainly move issues forward while bringing a unique and valuable contribution to the CSPGNO team,” the board said.
