Students from Falconbridge Public School and Robert Jack Public School, which are also closing at the end of June, will move into the high school building in September.

Students of Northeastern Secondary will attend Lasalle Secondary and Confederation Secondary in September.

The high school?s final graduation will take place tomorrow evening.

The closures came following an extensive school review process.

Northeastern Elementary is expecting about 630 students when it opens on the first day of the school year, on Tuesday, Sept. 3. It will house JK to Grade 8 students.

It will also maintain the former high school?s cougar mascot for its sports teams and clubs.

Valuable music equipment from Northeastern Secondary, much of it purchased with money raised by students, will follow teacher Norm McIntosh to Confederation Secondary. Other equipment will be divided between Lasalle and Confederation.

Several transition events are scheduled including:

* Robert Jack School will hold a Celebration of Memories, Wednesday, June 19;

* Robert Jack graduation will be held Thursday, June 20;

* Northeastern Grade 8 graduation will be held Thursday, June 20;

* Orientation and barbecue at the new Northeastern Elementary School, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28.

A committee of faculty, staff and parents at the closing schools are collecting mementoes and these will be displayed at the new elementary school.
