The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) has announced agencies may apply for funding to have health-care students work at their organization during the summer of 2020.

Are you a health-care student in the market for a summer placement or a health-care agency on the lookout for a summer student? The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) has announced agencies may apply for funding to have health-care students work at their organization during the summer of 2020.

The Summer Studentship Program provides funding to approved agencies in Northern Ontario in order for them to hire students, giving them the opportunity to gain relevant work experience in their field of study. Eligible health-care professions include medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, and pharmacy.

Funding for the program is available through NOSM’s Summer Studentship Program.

This program was created by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in order for a limited number of regulated health-care students who were born and/or raised in Northern Ontario to participate.

Once agencies have been approved for funding, students are then able to apply for a summer placement. All employment-related matters such as the selection of candidates, job duties, rate of pay, and duration of the employment contract is determined by the employing agency.

Interested agencies are asked to complete the agency application form, which can be found here. The form is due Jan 1, 2020.

Agencies who are interested are also encouraged to contact Nova Mason, community relations co-ordinator for NOSM by phone at 1-800-461-8777 ext. 7322 or 807-766-7520, or by email at [email protected].
