Original story:

Greater Sudbury Police have made one arrest and say more are possible after the force's tactical unit was called Sunday morning to a residence on Main Street in Val Caron.

Staff Sgt. Steve Hotson said the investigation is still in its early stages, but information such as the nature of the arrest are expected to be released later in the day.

"There is an arrest, but I can't get into what for yet because there still might be other people involved," Hotson said.

"There may be more arrests. It all depends on the evidence we gather."

Police arrived at the home at 9:45 a.m., but Hotson said he couldn't say whether they were acting on a tip or if it was a result of their own investigation. They're also asking the public to avoid the area until their work is complete.

"There will be a press release, but right now we don't want people showing up here,” he said.

He confirmed, however, the arrest is not linked to the discovery of human remains Saturday evening in the city's South End.

"No no, nothing to do with that."

The force's tactical unit was deployed because it's standard practice when police dogs are used to search for a suspect.

"They were here only for the dog track,” Hotson said.

This story will be updated when more information comes available.
