MR35 has been reopened in both directions following a fatal motor vehicle collision.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

An 86-year-old man has died as a result of the collision on MR35 this morning.

He was the driver and lone occupant of the single vehicle. He was pronounced dead at hospital, said the OPP.

His name won't be released out of respect for his family's wishes.

The road remains closed. Barricades and detours are in place. Greater Sudbury Police remain on scene and the investigation ongoing.

Greater Sudbury Police Services, Greater Sudbury Fire Services and Sudbury Paramedic Services are responding to a motor vehicle collision on MR35.

The collision involved a single vehicle and one person sustained serious injuries according to a tweet from GSPS at around 12:45 p.m.

Detours have been made available in both directions. For vehicles travelling eastbound, take MR35 at Marier Street in Azilda. For vehicles travelling westbound into Azilda from Sudbury, take Notre Dame at MR35.
