There are now 2,793 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Ontario. That's a jump of 401 cases over yesterday.

It's not the highest single-day jump in the cases yet — that happened April 1, when there was a jump of 426 over the day before.

The jump in deaths has risen significantly, however, to 53, up from 37 Wednesday.

There are 831 cases in Ontario that are classified as “resolved,” meaning the person with COVID-19 has recovered.

A total of 62,733 people have been tested for COVID-19, and 2,052 people are currently under investigation for COVID-19.

In Sudbury, we now have 16 confirmed positive cases, including three that were just announced this afternoon.

One of the cases — a man in his 50s, who has now been hospitalized — indicates community spread of COVID-19, according to Public Health Sudbury and Districts.

Five local COVID-19 cases are considered “resolved,” there are 187 people currently under investigation for the virus, and 747 people have been tested to date.

In Northern Ontario, by our count, there are now 69 confirmed COVID-19 cases. That includes three new cases in the Timmins area, the largest cluster in Northern Ontario, where there are now 24 cases in total.

In Canada as a whole, there are now 10,114 cases of COVID-19, up from 9,005 yesterday. There are also 18 probable cases.

The federal government reports 127 people with COVID-19 have now died.
