Residents of McDougall Township will soon have access to a clean water supply after the provincial government announced funding Tuesday for upgrades to the Nobel water treatment plant.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is providing an additional $66,707 needed to bring the treatment plant up to provincial code. The project includes construction of a new water main, rechlorination facility, and will connect McDougall Township to Parry Sound's water treatment system.

Approximately 235 households will benefit from the upgrades, costing the NOFHC $741,494.
