Newmarket — Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford today joined a roundtable of Ontario PC candidates to discuss the issues that they have been hearing during the election campaign. During the discussion Ford and his fellow candidates also discussed the steps that an Ontario PC Government will take to deliver immediate, meaningful and affordable change following the June 7 election.
“Our team of candidates will be ready, right out of the gates on June 8th, to provide the leadership and direction Ontario needs,” said Ford. “This team is prepared to put more money in your pocket, clean up the hydro mess, create good jobs, restore accountability and cut hospital wait times — and we will be ready on day one.
Joining Ford at his roundtable were a team of candidates from across Ontario including Caroline Mulroney (York-Simcoe), Christine Elliott (Newmarket-Aurora), Doug Downey (Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte), Greg Rickford (Kenora—Rainy River), Lisa MacLeod (Nepean), Peter Bethlenfalvy (Pickering–Uxbridge), Raymond Cho (Scarborough North), Rod Phillips (Ajax), Roshan Nallaratnam (Scarborough Guildwood), Sandie Bellows (St. Catharines), Vic Fedeli (Nipissing) and Donna Skelly (Flamborough-Glanbrook) and Michael Parsa (Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill)
Ford contrasted the depth of the Ontario PC team to the candidates running for the NDP. Over the course of the past week NDP leader Andrea Horwath has been left scrambling to defend multiple NDP candidates with radical and non-mainstream views that include histories of anti-Semitism, accusing the men and women of the Canadian forces of war crimes, calling for a 35 cent per litre carbon tax, and advocacy of violent protests and property destruction.
“Andrea Horwath has already admitted that her candidates will need special ‘training’ before they can be trusted,” said Ford. “But it’s clear that no amount of training will be enough. The NDP are unready, offensive and outside the mainstream.”
“We have the right plan, we have the right team and we are going to get the job done for the people,” Ford concluded. “And we will be ready starting on day one.”

Caroline Mulroney
York Simcoe
Caroline has had a successful career in the private sector spanning business and law while effectively running a charity benefitting homeless and at-risk women.
She is currently the Vice President of BloombergSen Investment Partners, a Toronto-based investment firm, where she manages client services, marketing and business development. Prior to that, Caroline spearheaded corporate and regulatory matters related to growth opportunities in Canada and the United States for Wellington Financial LP.
As a lawyer, she was an associate at Shearman & Sterling and then Associate Director of the NYU Center for Law & Business. Caroline began her career as a financial analyst in the investment banking department of Bear Stearns & Co. Inc.
Caroline is a graduate of Harvard College and the NYU School of Law.
In addition to her work in the private sector, Caroline is passionate about the charitable organization she co-founded and chairs called the Shoebox Project for Shelters. With local chapters across Canada and the United States, they coordinate and deliver gifts to thousands of women and girls in shelters or facing homelessness.
She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Hospital for SickKids Foundation and is a Governor of the National Theatre School of Canada. She is a former member of the Board of Directors to the Fraser Institute and the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority, a Crown corporation.
Born in Montreal, Caroline grew up in Ottawa and is bilingual.
Caroline and her husband Andrew Lapham have four children and a dog, Peanut. They have a home in Georgina.
Christine Elliott
Newmarket Aurora
As a mother, lawyer, businesswoman, and entrepreneur, Christine Elliott knows how to bring people together. She knows the importance of balancing a family budget and how to manage a successful business. Christine knows that responsible government is needed to get Ontario back onto the right financial track.
Christine graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Laws degree. She then built a successful career in business and law, working first as an auditor at one of Canada’s largest banks. Christine later co-founded a law firm with her late husband Jim Flaherty, where she specialized in real estate, corporate law, and estate law. Christine has worked tirelessly to help businesses all across the province expand and thrive.
Christine also used her business and legal expertise to pursue her commitment to public service. Her pro bono legal work for charitable organizations gained her the recognition as a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow, the highest award with Rotary.
In 2006, Christine was elected MPP. She has won four elections, and for nine years she served the people of Ontario at Queen’s Park, including six years as Deputy Leader of the PC Party.
As well, Christine is a co-founder of the Abilities Centre in Whitby, a facility built with the vision of celebrating all people, regardless of ability. The centre has become a hub of its community, hosting various Parapan Am Games events in 2015.
In 2016, Christine became Ontario’s Patient Ombudsman, where she fought for better access to health care for all.
Christine is looking forward to the opportunity to return to the Legislature and to fight hard for the issues that matter to all residents of Newmarket-Aurora.

Doug Downey
Barrie Springwater Oro-Medonate
Born and raised in Simcoe County (Bond Head), Doug grew up working on area farms and roofing. Once at University, he worked summer jobs driving a parts truck and at the Barrie Court House on Worsley Street.
After University, Doug and Jennifer returned to Simcoe County to raise a family (Andrew, 17 and Jane, 10).
After serving two terms on Municipal Council, Doug has remained an active volunteer. He is past president of Kiwanis, Big Brothers Big Sisters, a local Chamber, and is currently VP of a local Community Development Corporation.
Doug was Chair of the Independent Panel on the Future of the Trent-Severn, It’s All About the Water. He was appointed (volunteer) on the Expert Panel on the Regulation of Home Inspectors and the Business Law Advisory Group, advising the Minister of Government and Consumer Services.
Doug has been involved in politics in the riding since 1993 and has been Campaign Manager for several successful campaigns in the riding and Simcoe County.

Greg Rickford
Kenora—Rainy River
Greg Rickford was acclaimed as the PC Ontario candidate for Kenora-Rainy River on Saturday November 18th at a meeting held in Dryden, Ontario.
Instilled with the values of hard work and public service from a young age, Greg has earned degrees in common and civil law from McGill University, and an MBA from Laval University. Those values brought Greg to the remote First Nations communities of Northern Ontario as a young man where he worked as a nurse and lawyer. Greg’s experience led him to understand the issues and opportunities that face the Kenora-Rainy River riding. As a federal Member of Parliament, Greg made improving economic and infrastructure conditions for First Nations in the area one of his core goals. He was the first Conservative MP ever elected in the 84-year history of the Kenora riding. In 2013, Greg was appointed to Cabinet as the Minister of State (Science and Technology) and the Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor). In 2014, he was promoted to the Minister of Natural Resources while retaining his responsibilities for FedNor. Previously, Greg had served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor), and for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
Since 2015 Greg Rickford, has practiced law and serves as a strategic advisor to a number of companies and organizations specializing in natural resources, indigenous affairs, health, and legal matters. Greg has also served as on the Board of Directors for Noront Resources Ltd. – a publicly traded company on the TSX since April 7, 2017.
Greg and his wife Janet have two daughters, Abigail Mae and Poppy Kate. Greg is a diehard Toronto Blue Jays & Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loves college football. An avid sport shooter at the Lake of the Woods Gun Club, Greg is also a fishing and yoga enthusiast, Greg's favourite place in the world is with his family at his home in Keewatin on Lake of the Woods.
Lisa MacLeod
Nepean
Lisa MacLeod was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in a 2006 byelection as the youngest MPP in that parliament and the youngest conservative woman to be elected in Ontario- either federally or provincially.
She has continued to represent the Nepean-Carleton riding winning elections in 2007, 2011, 2014. In 2011 Lisa received the highest vote total in all of Ontario of any candidate.
Lisa is presently the PC Critic to the Treasury Board, the PC Critic for Anti-Racism, and the PC Critic for the City of Ottawa . She serves as Vice Chair of the Standing Committee for Public Accounts and is a member of the Standing Committee of Finance and Economic Affair.
Lisa has served as the Vice Chair of the Quebec-Ontario Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Ontario’s steering committee member on the Canadian Parliamentary Women’s Association and Vice Chair of the Government Agencies Committee and Legislative Assembly Committees. She has also served as Official Opposition Finance Critic, Energy Critic, Education Critic, Revenue and Accountability Critic, Government and Consumer Affairs critic and Critic for Children and Youth.
Lisa’s legislative success includes Rowan’s Law, Canada's first concussion legislation, Lebansese Heritage Month and Trans Remembrance Month. As well, Lisa has been successful in receiving all party support for making Queen’s Park Family Friendly, defending Ontario’s horseracing industry and a compassionate and catastrophic care Motion.
For her work Lisa has been awarded the Friendship Medal by the Royal Canadian Legion, a commendation by the St. John’s Ambulance and is the 2018 EVE Award Recipient from Equal Voice- for her work with Daughters of the Vote and liveable legislatures . Lisa was also named Top 50 and Top 25 in the Capital and in 2017 was named Faces Magazine’s Favourite Ottawa MPP.
Lisa has authored a cookbook, “I’d Rather Be Baking Cookies: A Collection of Recipes from Lisa MacLeod and Friends”, and has enjoyed coaching her daughter in sports including being the trainer on the Nepean Girls Wildcats Hockey team.
Before being elected to the Ontario Legislature, Lisa served as an advisor to Nepean-Carleton legislators at all three levels of government, spent time as a political commentator on local TV and radio and worked in a management program with Sobeys Inc. She is a graduate of St. Francis
Xavier University, holding a B.A. Honours in Political Science. Lisa has studied at the Masters level in Intelligence Studies at American Military University.

Peter Bethlenfalvy

Peter Bethlenfalvy is the Ontario PC candidate for Pickering-Uxbridge.
Peter is an international leader in the financial services sector with over 25 years of senior leadership experience?in capital markets,?risk?management and?investments. He is married and has three children.
He is currently Chief Investment and Risk Officer at CST Consultants. Prior to joining CST, he was Senior Vice President, financial regulations at Manulife Financial, where he was responsible for strategy and monitoring financial regulatory systems around the world. Peter was also President and Chief Operating Officer of TD Securities (USA). ?
Peter?understands the impact of the Liberal government’s mismanagement of the province’s finances. In 2009, as Co-President of DBRS, his company led an extensive review of the Ontario Liberals’ financial mismanagement and expressed concerns that unsustainable spending would hurt future generations. These findings helped inspire him to seek public office and help repair Ontario with a new government.
In 2014,?Peter?joined the True Patriot Love Expedition to the magnetic North Pole in support of Canadian military families. He is also a member of the C.D. Howe Institute’s Financial Services Research Initiative,?serves on the Board of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, and sits on the McGill?University’s?Desautels?Capital Management Board of Directors.

Raymond Cho
Scarborough North
Raymond Cho arrived in Vancouver B.C. in March 1967 as a landed immigrant from Seoul, Korea. Before he came to Canada, Raymond already had a B.A. degree in English from the University of Foreign Studies and worked for the Cultural Division of the American Embassy in South Korea.
In order to earn money for his future education, he had gone to work in asbestos mines in British Columbia just south of Yukon Territory. In order to make enough money, Raymond worked three jobs simultaneously; a mine labourer during the day, a waiter in the evening, and a janitor in the middle of the night.
At the end of 1967, Raymond traveled to Toronto. Unfortunately, it was again very difficult for Raymond to find a job. The first job he found was a janitorial role at the Toronto General Hospital. Although life was very hard as a new immigrant, Raymond never gave up on his dream. His goal to get a higher education and to become a successful professional kept pushing him to go further.
Raymond worked very hard to get his first Master of Social Work degree from the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Toronto. Raymond also studied for and received a Master's degree of Education and a Doctorate degree in counselling psychology, all from the University of Toronto.
Besides Raymond’s responsibilities as a professional social worker and his demanding academic studies from the University of Toronto, Raymond became heavily involved in advocating for human rights. Raymond dedicated his advocacy efforts to the cases of human rights abuse in North Korea, fighting for the rights of Koreans who live in Japan, and for the restoration of democracy in South Korea in the 1970s and 1980s. Raymond and his wife accompanied Rev. Jesse Jackson to Japan and South Korea to advocate for these issues in 1986. Furthermore, Raymond describes himself as a human rights activist, striving for the fair and equal treatment of all people.
Raymond was first elected as a Metro Councillor in 1991 and was re-elected to the amalgamated City of Toronto in 1997. Since then he was re-elected as a City Councillor with an accumulative 8 landslide victories overall.
In 2016, MPP Raymond Cho won a by-election in the riding of Scarborough-Rouge River and became the first Member of Provincial Parliament of Korean background in Ontario. He is proud to represent Scarborough-rouge River and is thankful for the trust placed in him by his constituents.
About nine years ago MPP Cho founded the Global Youth Leaders which consisted of high school leaders from the Greater Toronto Area. Raymond led the GYL group to the Philippines three times to build houses for the victims of typhoons. He also led the students from GYL to Jamaica twice to help orphans with HIV and AIDS, and to help seniors at the Golden Age Senior Home.
MPP Raymond Cho and his wife, Soon Ok, have been living in Scarborough for the past 45 years and they have three adult sons.
Rod Phillips
Ajax
Rod Phillips is a successful business leader, community activist, and a life long advocate for government integrity and accountability. He is currently the candidate for the Ontario PC Party in the new riding of Ajax in the 2018 Ontario spring election.
Rod most recently was the Chair of both Afiniti Canada, a global artificial intelligence company and Postmedia, Canada’s largest news media company. He is the former President and CEO of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and Shepell.fgi, a Canadian based international employee health company.
Rod has a lifetime commitment to community service, most recently as Chair of the Boards of CivicAction and the TELUS GTA Community Board leading work to reduce gridlock, youth unemployment and improve mental health across the GTA. He has served in senior capacities with several other prominent community organizations and was an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Canadian Army Reserves.
His political experience includes being a senior campaign advisor to the Leader of the PC Party in four campaigns and Chief of Staff to an Ontario cabinet minister and the Mayor of Toronto. He led international observer teams monitoring elections in post-war El Salvador and in Romania after the fall of the Iron Curtain.
Born in Newmarket, Ontario, Rod completed his undergraduate studies at Western University and holds an MBA from Western Laurier University. He also completed studies at the Rotman School of Management. His work has been recognized locally and nationally including as one Canada’s Top 40 Under 40. Rod is married to Lydia Phillips and resides in Ajax, Ontario.
Roshan Nallaratnam
Scarborough-Guildwood
Roshan Nallaratnam is a Law Enforcement Professional and hails from a social service-oriented family background. He was born in Sri Lanka, raised in India, and immigrated to Canada in 2005.
Roshan and his wife, Abirami, have a young family with three daughters. He is a proud Canadian and understands the importance of strong family values.
He holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and has a penchant for playing cricket. Roshan has been actively engaged with the Toronto community, working with the youth through sports and social awareness programs.
He has been very vocal on issues concerning security and family welfare. Roshan enthusiastically reaches out to all communities around the city, which has earned him broad recognition and support.
If elected as the MPP for Scarborough-Guildwood, Roshan will fully commit himself to the residents of Scarborough and will proudly represent the community.
Vic Fedeli
Nipissing
Vic Fedeli was born and raised in North Bay. His grandparents chose to come to Ontario from Italy with ambitions of a far better life and more opportunity for their young families.
In his 20s, he opened Fedeli Advertising, the first ad agency north of Toronto. As a young entrepreneur, he turned the company into a global agency that communicated with people all over the world, from their base in Northern Ontario. One of the proudest moments of his business career was when Fedeli Advertising was named 34th in the Top 50 Best Places to Work in Canada.
In 1992, Vic sold the firm and devoted the next 11 years to managing three non-profit ventures. He founded Air Base Property Corporation, a local development agency that took over the airside assets of CFB North Bay. Vic used his business experience to write the business plan that attracted
Voyageur Airways, which now employs over 350 people involved in repair and overhaul of aircraft from around the world.
In 2003, Vic ran for mayor of North Bay and as a first-time candidate was elected with 75% of the vote. He was re-elected in 2006 in another landslide. As mayor, Vic transformed the city, restoring both hope and solvency. Moody’s Investors Service took notice, increasing the city’s credit rating five times to their highest possible rating – substantially reducing the city’s debt interest payments.
Internationally, Vic was one of only two North American mayors invited to the prestigious Government Leaders Forum hosted by Bill Gates and had the pleasure to discuss a municipality’s role in governing with former U.S. Secretary of State, Madeline Albright.
He made news on both sides of the border when he successfully launched a grassroots campaign to reverse the U.S. ‘Buy American’ provision, earning special acknowledgment from then U.S. Ambassador to Canada, David Jacobson.
In 2011, after keeping his promise to step down as mayor after serving two terms, Vic was elected to serve the people of Nipissing at Queen’s Park. In 2014, Vic was re-elected as Nipissing MPP.
As the Official Opposition Energy Critic, his leadership and tenacity helped uncover the government’s gas plant scandal. Now, as Finance Critic, Vic is the lead voice holding the Wynne Government to account over their disastrous economic record.

Donna Skelly

Born and raised in a small Northern Ontario railroad town, Donna has lived and worked in communities across Ontario giving her a unique perspective on the challenges and issues facing Ontarians.
Donna currently sits on Hamilton City Council where she has quickly developed a reputation for being a tough, fiscally responsible politician who believes in fighting for the taxpayer.
Prior to her career in politics, Donna worked in the broadcast industry, for over 30 years both in Ontario and Quebec. She has travelled overseas covering international affairs including the first Gulf War and reported on numerous political and social events across the province. Donna anchored regional and national newscasts and co-hosted and produced a popular daily current affairs program seen nationwide.
In 2000 Donna founded an online news service considered cutting edge for digital technology and content.
She was named woman of the year for Politics and Public Affairs by the YWCA and sits on numerous boards and agencies both locally and federally.
Donna lives in Hamilton with her two sons.
Michael Parsa
Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond HillHaving lived in Richmond Hill since 2002, where he has been married to his wife Valerie for the past 10 years, Michael is deeply committed to the community.
He has worked and volunteered in the community in a variety of ways, including initiatives for at-risk youth, personal mentorship, and empowerment. He sits on the board of the Optimist Club, where he served as President from 2006 to 2009. For the past five years, Michael has sat alongside the Mayor as one of the judges of the Richmond Hill Santa Claus Parade.
In 2011, Michael was awarded the Maple Leaf Award for outstanding outreach and volunteerism. He also received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013 for his exemplary contributions to the local community.
Outside of his political and volunteer activities, Michael has a B.A. in Organizational Management and has been running a local family business since 1990.
Michael loves sports. He’s an avid hockey fan, and plays soccer and golf. If he’s not playing, he is busy coaching youth sports teams in the community.

Joel Harden

• Has advocated for a $150/tonne carbon tax, which would be the highest carbon tax in the world. Harden’s carbon tax would increase gas prices by 34.8 cents per litre.1 Harden’s carbon tax would increase the cost of heating a home with natural gas by $216 per month, or $2,592 per year.
• In an interview with the Socialist Worker, he said that the readers should see him as “an ally, who won’t change.”2
Laura Kaminker
Mississauga Centre
• Refuses to wear a poppy, writing in a 2014 blog post, "I just wear my peace button on my jacket as always, and wait for the collective brainwashing to blow over. When our masters give the signal, everyone can take off the fake poppy - made with prison labour - and create a bit more landfill. And another annual ritual of war glorification comes to a close."3
• Has attacked sports teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and Toronto Blue Jays who honour our troops at games.4
• A 9/11 conspiracy theorist who strongly believes we should stop memorializing the 3,000 lives lost, including 26 Canadians. In 2010, she wrote "Enough about September 11...for the US. For the world. Enough already,” and in 2011 she wrote "It makes me want to shout: Go away! Go the fuck away! All of you fixating on this one event, the whole world expected to stand in hushed silence because a bad thing happened to Americans."5
• While she does not want to honour the troops who have fought for the freedom and rights we all hold dear, she does want to wage a war on Christmas, writing ““If there were a war on Christmas, I’d think about signing up.”6
• Is a self-described Marxist, who after a conference wrote that it was a “weekend of inspiration, education, and revolution.”7

• She shared a pro-Nazi meme on Facebook which featured Adolf Hitler giving a Nazi salute with the quote, “If you don’t like a Rule...Just Follow it...Reach on the top...and Change the Rule” attributed to the German dictator.8
• She also called our brave men and women in uniform war criminals who are a “slaughtering machine.”9
Dwayne Morgan
Scarborough North
• A 9/11 conspiracy theorist who tweeted, “Now if they could do something about Bush’s role in 9/11, people could finally get closure”10
Jessica Bell
University-Rosedale
• A professional protester, who co-wrote a handbook on organizing radical protests, and endorses strategies like “occupation,” and “property destruction” and a manual accusing the police of targeted assassinations.11, 12
• As an activist with the Rainforest Action Network, she was part of a group of paid protesters who climbed a crane in Seattle and were arrested for criminal sabotage.13

• Rima is known for posting anti-semitic and inflammatory language on her blog, which she has since tried to cover up:
"Palestinians have borne the brunt of Jews’ traumatized reaction to the Holocaust — such that a fringe idea at the end of the 19th century has become Jewish identity orthodoxy.”14
“Netanyahu and his ilk play the Holocaust card every time they counter international criticism. It’s completely instrumental: how can you say no to a man whose relatives were shoved into an oven while your relatives said nothing? But you must. You must say no.”15

• A career anti-mining activist who has opposed development of the Ring of Fire.16
• Bragged about the fact that mining companies dislike him.17

• Helped to sponsor a Female Oil Wrestling competition featuring bikini-clad women. When he was pressed about his involvement in the event, Vanderpool denied he attended the event, and speculated that it was another person named “Fitz the Whip.”21

• Ran a company called Beads 4 Health that made jewelry with magnets that she said could relieve arthritis pain and improve circulation. Scientific evidence disputes this claim.22, 23
