Ontario reports 552 new COVID cases Monday

Public Health Ontario reported 552 new COVID cases today.

The latest updates noted 342 recoveries and three new deaths. 

The Nov. 15 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:

  • 4,985 active cases, up from 4,778 reported yesterday. 
  • 138 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, but this number is underestimated as more than 10 per cent of Ontario hospitals did not submit to the daily bed census yesterday. 
  • There are 113 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 28 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
  • There are 66 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 13 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID. 
  • 11,152,122 Ontarians (about 75 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated. 88 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
  • Included in today's new cases are 286 unvaccinated, 23 partially vaccinated, and 212 fully vaccinated people. 31 cases were reported with vaccination status unknown. 
  • The vaccination status of those hospitalized is not updated on Sunday or Monday. 
  • The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is 8.7 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 4.1 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 2.1 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
  • The province reported 21,475 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 2.2 per cent positivity rate.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 85 are from Toronto, 51 are from Peel, 44 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 49 are from York Region.
  • Today's new cases include 117 individuals under 12 years old, 50 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 161 people between 20 and 39 years old, 149 people between 40 and 59 years old, 59 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 15 people over 79 years old.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 607,725 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 592,803  recoveries and 9,937 deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, 30,908 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 6,077 of them were in intensive care units.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,124.6 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 26.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 22.9 per cent compared to the week of Oct. 30.

Northern Ontario

In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:

  • Algoma Public Health: 709 cases, weekly rate of 72.1 cases per 100,000 people. There are 155 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 87 per cent have both doses.
  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 869 cases, weekly rate of 21.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 874 cases. There are 27 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 87 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 83 per cent have both doses.
  • Porcupine Health Unit: 2,255 cases, weekly rate of 20 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,256 cases. There are 23 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 85 per cent have both doses.
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 3,262 cases, weekly rate of 125.2 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,251 cases. There are 281 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 91 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 88 per cent have both doses.
  • Timiskaming Health Unit: 260 cases, weekly rate of 17.7 cases per 100,000 people.  The health unit has reported 262 cases. There are 11 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 88 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 84 per cent have both doses.
  • Northwestern Health Unit: 1,204 cases, weekly rate of 3.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,202 cases. There are 4 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 85 per cent have both doses.
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,459 cases, weekly rate of 12.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,460 cases. There are 18 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 94 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 90 per cent have both doses.
