Thursday evening at 8:30, members of the Huntsville OPP along with officers from the OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team and Muskoka Paramedic Services responded to a report of an assault at an Aspdin Road residence in Huntsville.

“Upon arrival, an injured male was located at the scene and transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries,” the OPP said in a news release.

The victim is 45-year old Michel Earl of Huntsville. A post-mortem is been scheduled for Saturday at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto.

Charles Hayhoe, 42, also of Huntsville, was arrested and charged with second degree murder and has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing Tuesday in Bracebridge.

“The investigation into this death is continuing under the direction of Detective Inspector Robert Matthews of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch,” the release said.
