Former investment planner Pierre Montpellier has been banned by the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) from ever trading in financial securities again.
Last year, Montpellier pled guilty and was convicted of fraud and theft in a scheme that defrauded 128 Sudbury-area investors of more than $5 million.
?Montpellier?s conduct goes to the very essence of the duties and responsibilities of a registrant under the Act. His contravention of obligations under the Act is illustrative of a most grave type of failure by a registrant,? said the OSC, in a news release.
