Human Resources Development is giving $109,000 to a Sudbury program that will address the labour market needs of youth, women, internationally trained professionals and employers in this area.

The Sudbury Manitoulin Training and Adjustment Local Board will receive funding to provide leadership in determining labour market needs and address labour market trends. The project will develop a strategy to deal with the labour market and human resource issues identified and help the community implement labour force adjustments.

The board will hold a series of workshops, conferences and employer visits related to various topics, including science and technology, careers for women, the Kyoto Protocol?s effect on the local labour market, and retention and expansion in the mining industry.
