UPDATED: Power restored to all customers, Hydro One reports

Power has been restored to all customers affected by the power outage, Hydro One reported early Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the outage was a lightning strike, the utility says. Crews are still on site repairing damaged hydro poles.

A total of 5,489 Hydro One customers in Greater Sudbury will likely be without electricity until Tuesday afternoon.

Exactly why the power is out is being determined, the utility said in a news release, but crews are working to fix the problem. 

“Cause is unknown,” the release said, adding that “bad weather reported in the area.”

The affected residents are in Azilda, Blezard Valley, Chelmsford and other part of Rayside Balfour.

The outage began around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Hydro One said in the news release. Power should be restored by 2 p.m.
