An overnight fire caused "widespread damage" to a multi-unit building on Bancroft Drive.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services Deputy Chief Jesse Oshell said in a tweet that careless cooking is suspected to be the cause. "Please be cautious and stay in the kitchen when preparing your meal," Oshell said.

Careless cooking was also the cause of a fire on Hemlock Street Feb. 3. 

Greater Sudbury Police service sent out a tweet shortly after 10 p.m. Feb. 3, saying a stretch of Bancroft Drive was closed to make way for firefighting operations. The road was clear by 1:22 a.m. Feb. 4.
