Painting downtown yellow for cancer research (Photos)

Daffodils and bows aim to raise money and awareness

Downtown Sudbury will have a distinct décor over the next several weeks as yellow daffodils are popping up along the sidewalks and yellow bows strewn about trees, poles and parking meters.

An initiative of the Canadian Cancer Society, the yellow accents are there to raise awareness and funding for cancer research.

Downtown businesses that have made contributions to the campaign also have their logos recognized in yellow next to a daffodil on the sidewalk in front of their establishment.

Volunteers who were out painting Wednesday afternoon told Sudbury.com the paint should last at least two weeks.
