Friends and nurses Cassandra Dubois and Amanda St-Denis will split the record-setting jackpot of $201,565 in November’s HSN 50/50 Cash Lottery for the North draw.
“I had just gotten off night shift and was supposed to be in bed when I got the phone call and was shocked,” said Dubois. “I called Amanda right away. We’re both just so excited.”
“It was pretty tough to sleep after that,” said St-Denis. “I’m running off of pure adrenaline right now.”
The two nurses purchased their tickets to celebrate changes in their jobs. In the same week Dubois’ position became permanent, St-Denis’ part-time position became full-time.
“We work the same two-day, two-night schedule on the exact same dates, so it’s almost like it’s super meant to be,” said St-Denis.
When asked how they plan to spend their winnings, the two nurses provided very responsible answers: eliminate debt and fund additions to their houses, although they did mention that if it wasn’t for COVID-19, a trip to Las Vegas would have been in the cards.
“It was so exciting to talk to Cassandra yesterday morning; calling the winner is definitely one of the most fun parts of my job,” said Anthony Keating, president and CDO of Foundations and Volunteer Groups at HSN. “Our grand-prize jackpots keep getting bigger month after month and we’re so excited to see how much the jackpot will be at the end of December. We are on track for our December jackpot to be our biggest prize pot yet. I encourage people to get tickets early so they are entered into all of our early bird draws.”
The December draw, live at HSN5050.ca, includes the 12 Days of Winning. Leading up to the holiday season, early ticket purchasers are entered to win 12 fabulous early bird prizes in addition to the grand prize jackpot.
Any tickets purchased before 11:59 p.m. the day before the early bird draws will be included in that day’s draw. So, to be included in the Dec. 11 draw, you must have purchased your ticket before Dec. 10 at 11:59 p.m.. In addition, a Holiday Special ticket purchase has been added, offering 350 tickets for $75, the best bang-for-your-buck ticket purchase option available yet, said a news release.
Residents across Ontario over the age of 18 can purchase tickets for a chance to win. Tickets for the December draw are available to purchase right now, with sales ending at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29. The jackpot winning ticket will be drawn on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 10 a.m. and posted online at HSN5050.ca.
