The Garson arena was packed with students cheering on a team of Sudbury firefighters as they took to the ice against firefighters from Toronto on March 30.
Toronto may have won the Fire Fighters' Cup with a 4-3 victory, but everyone was playing for the same cause - nine-year-old Hudson Fletcher, who is battling cancer.
The benefit hockey game raised $15,533 for Hudson and his family - mom Natalie, father Corey and sister Dylan.
"It's an overwhelming feeling of happiness for everybody," Natalie said.
The firefighters also surprised Hudson with a signed jersey from his favourite player, Sidney Crosby.
