Photos: Lively lives up to its name with Walden Winter Carnival

The Walden Winter Carnival kicked off on Thursday and continues throughout the weekend to 3 p.m. Sunday

The community of Lively is hopping this weekend for the 50th Annual Walden Winter Carnival.

The festivities kicked off with a scattering of events on Thursday and Friday evenings before the main events kicked off on Saturday.

The Tom Davies Community Centre and Arena, Anderson Farm Museum and various surrounding buildings and outdoor areas were seen packed with people on Saturday.

Family-friendly activities included small carnival rides for children, hockey games, rounds on miniature snowmobiles, horse-drawn wagon rides, a vintage snowmobiles display, bouncing around in a giant bubble, and various other activities.

Saturday’s events were scheduled to conclude by 5 p.m., but will kick off again at 8 a.m. Sunday with a pancake breakfast at Christ Anglican Church, followed by the same collection of events as those taking place Saturday.

For those driving out to enjoy the activities, the parking lots immediately adjacent to the events were packed full on Saturday. Signs point motorists to alternative parking lots, where shuttle services were available to transport people to the events.

A $5 carnival button is required for all events. Ages four and under are free.

The carnival is delivered solely by volunteers. Those interested in joining the board or volunteering during future carnivals can send organizers an email at [email protected]
