The Beaver Lake Sports and Cultural Club was the place to be this weekend for the return of the Beaver Lake Winter Carnival.
With COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in the rearview mirror, dozens of people turned out for a full weekend of events at the club. The carnival ran from Feb. 17-19.
The carnival featured an impressive variety of events and activities for people to enjoy.
There was a spaghetti supper and euchre party on Friday. Saturday began with a Finnish pancake breakfast and continued with activities all day.
Saturday featured a bake sale, jug curling, a vintage snowmobile display, face-painting and kids games, family skating and cross-country skiing. There was also a boot toss and a rolling pin toss, as well as a photo contest.
Inside the clubhouse, there was music all day provided by the Local Yokels as well as the men’s drum group from Sagamok Anishnawbek. A silent auction and penny sale, as well as food and drinks, had dozens of people hanging out in the clubhouse between activities.
There was a paint social event on Saturday night, as well, with a snowmobile poker run on Sunday morning.
