Planned power outage affects areas including Falconbridge, Garson on Sunday

A power interruption is scheduled for all customers in the community of Falconbridge on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A power interruption is scheduled for all Greater Sudbury Hydro customers in the community of Falconbridge on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Hydro One has informed Greater Sudbury Hydro of a planned interruption on the transmission system to safely conduct important work. That disruption will cause an outage on the GSH distribution system for the entire community of Falconbridge.

For tips on what to do before, during and after a power outage, customers are urged to visit sudburyhydro.com.

Please ensure that any computerized equipment is turned off prior to this interruption. Also, note that most cordless phones and garage door openers will not operate during a power interruption.

Hydro One has also sent out an outage notice for 4,166 local customers from 3-9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.

The affected customers are in the Garson, Falconbridge, MacLellan, Awrey, Dryden, Neelon, Scadding, Davis, Hanmer, Rathbun and Kelly areas.

Hydro One said the reason behind the outage is the relocation of hydro poles.
