Update: Missing 29-year-old man located deceased

At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, police report they located a deceased 29-year-old man reported missing the previous day. 

Matthew, whose last name was withheld by Greater Sudbury Police Service, was found by members of the Search and Rescue Team with the assistance of an OPP helicopter. 

"Our deepest condolences go out to Matthew's family and friends," GSPS reported on social media. "We ask that you respect their privacy during this difficult time."

Police report that no foul play is suspected.

GSPS thanked North Shore Search and Rescue and the OPP for their assistance.

Greater Sudbury Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 29-year-old man reported missing, and there are concerns regarding his well-being.

Matthew, whose last name was withheld by GSPS, was last seen at approximately 2:45 p.m. on May 27 on Penman Avenue in Garson, according to police.

He is described as 6’2”, around 250 lbs., with a shaved head and facial scruff. 

Matthew was reportedly last seen wearing a grey tank top with a yellow and red graphic, dark shorts and sandals (as pictured on this page).

Anyone with information related to Matthew’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171. 

Officers with the assistance of North Shore Search And Rescue are conducting a ground search of the wooded area off of Penman Avenue. 

The OPP helicopter is on route to assist with an aerial search and the GSPS Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) is currently flying in the area. There will be an increased police presence in the area in relation to this matter.
