Power outage affecting five customers now, caused by a squirrel

Sudbury Hydro has determined this morning's outage to be a result of squirrel, which caused a transformer fuse to blow at the corner of Samson Avenue and Beaton Avenue.

There are five customers reported to still be without service but their power should be restored shortly.

Sudbury Hydro has said that power should be up and running for the majority of those affected by this morning's power outage.

The cause of the interruption has yet to be determined. 

Anyone still without power is asked to call 705-675-7536.

Sudbury Hydro has reported that approximately 1,883 customers are without power in the Downtown core, including those near Wembly Drive, David Street, John Street and Riverside Drive.

The outage has affected a number of traffic lights in the area. 

Hydro crews have been dispatched to locate the cause of the power outage. 

There is no estimate at this time for when service will be restored.
