Updated Feb. 3:
Sudbury Hydro has said that yesterday's power outage was a result of underground wires which shorted out/ burned off, tripping three feeders at the Paris substation. Customers had their service re-routed from another substation, as the Paris Street location has yet to restore power.
Updated at 3:37 p.m.:
Sudbury Hydro has reported through Twitter, that approximately 800 customers within the South End have been affected by the power outage.
Service looks to be restored within the next two hours, one hour more than previously suggested.
Original Story:
An unknown number of Sudbury residents, businesses and lights within the South End are without power, according to a tweet by Sudbury Hydro.
Originally suspected to be the result of a fire at the Paris substation, Sudbury Hydro has retracted this speculation, suggesting instead that a "major problem [had] tripped three feeders and interupted power supply."
Through Twitter, Sudbury Hydro assured Sudburians that crews were in the process of rerouting power with the hope of restoring service within the hour.
UPDATE! Not a fire at Paris substation after all(correction) but a major problem has tripped 3 feeders and interrupted power supply for the South End of Sudbury. Crews are on it and we will be able to reroute power, likely within 2 hours. Please bear with us!
