The power has now been fully restored in the West End, Greater Sudbury Utilities said Tuesday evening.

"The outage was triggered when a line shorted out, caught fire and fell to the ground," the GSU said in an email. "That affected approx 850 customers. When making repairs, power to another 600 customers had to be interrupted to ensure the safety of our crews.

"All power is now back on. We thank our customers for their patience."
