Squirrel to blame for outage, GSU says

Updated at 8:41 a.m.: Greater Sudbury Utilities says it has restored power to the Gemmell/Kipling/Westmount area of New Sudbury following an outage about an hour ago.

The GSU says a squirrel was determined to have been the cause of the outage.

There's a power outage in the Gemmell/Kipling/Westmount area of New Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Hydro reported on Twitter at 7:35 a.m. Friday.

Crews are responding.

The cause is unknown, and there's currently no estimated time of repair.

The utility did not say how many customers are impacted by the outage.
