“Locally, less than 15 per cent of adults report consuming the daily recommended intake of fruit and vegetables and together, we need to reverse this trend,” said Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, Sudbury and District medical officer of health, in a release.

“This program provides students with the opportunity to learn about, enjoy, and ideally develop a lifelong appreciation for fruit and vegetables.”

The program will help to educate students and their families about the benefits of eating fruit and vegetables, encourage healthy eating and promote Ontario-grown produce.
