The Government of Ontario has reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement with the Ontario Council of Educational Workers.
It was announced Saturday by Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, and includes educational assistants, designated early childhood educators and clerical workers.
This is the fifth tentative agreement reached between the province and educators, following that of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario Educational Workers (ETFO EW), and the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO).
Two agreements have been ratified since discussions began, with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the Educational Workers’ Alliance of Ontario (EWAO).
There are now just two unions without tentative agreements, including the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation.
