Although the weather is not expected to be great, those who want to go camping will find vacancies at local provincial parks the holiday long weekend.

Fairbanks Provincial Park, west of the city, still had 80 campsites available Thursday. Each campsite has a picnic table, fireplace and nearby amenities.

There are four different types of sites at Fairbanks, each with different prices per night. For $23.25 you get the basic site. For hydro, expect to pay $27.25 per night. Lakeshore sites without hydro cost $25.75 and with hydro you pay $29.75. Phone 866-0530.

Windy Lake Park, off Highway 144 in Levack, has lots of space, according to Cindy Harbottle, a member of park staff. ?The fishing is good, the staff are very friendly and the park is clean,? she said. Phone 966-2315.

Halfway Park, 95 kilometres up Highway 144, is in better shape this year. A severe storm battered the park and downed trees in 2002.

?The pike and pickerel are biting and we?ve done a lot of clean-up in the park,? said Jenn Casciani, with park staff. Phone 965-2702.

Reserved spots at Grundy Lake Provincial Park, located 80 kilometres south of Sudbury, are full, but there are always first-come, first-served sites, said Barbara Burke, Park Natural Heritage co-ordinator. ?Come on down, we?re family friendly,? she said. Phone 383-2286.
