Each year, since the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act was passed in 1996, the Ontario government has published a compendium of public sector employees who were paid $100,000 or more.
According to the ministry of finance website, the purpose of this law is to provide a more open and accountable system of government.
Sudbury Regional Hospital CEO Vickie Kaminski had the second-highest salary behind Strasser.
She made $308,653 in 2006, with $7,162 in taxable benefits. In total, there are 49 hospital employees getting paid more than $100,000 a year.
In 2005, Kaminski's salary was listed at $300,000.
North East Mental Health Centre psychiatrist-in-chief Dr. Susan Adams made $289,507, with $8,644 in taxable benefits.
Laurentian University president Judith Woodsworth made $260,434, with $7,561 in taxable benefits.
Cambrian College president Sylvia Barnard got paid $221,421, with $6,736 in taxable benefits, and former College Boreal president Gisele Chretien got paid $180,175, with $777 in taxable benefits.
City chief administrative officer Mark Mieto was at the top of city salary heap, making $182,102, with $9,677 in taxable benefits.
There were 46 City of Greater Sudbury employees who made more than $100,000 last year.
Chief of Police Ian Davidson made $166,868, with $12,322 in taxable benefits. Deputy chief of police James Cunningham made $152,484, with $12,179 in taxable benefits.
Fire chief Donald Donaldson, who was off for most of 2006 while in a dispute with city management, did not make the $100,000 list.
Former general manager of infrastructure and emergency services Al Stephen made $163,859 with $8,302 in taxable benefits.
General manager of growth and development Doug Nadarozny made $158,299, with $8,302 in taxable benefits.
Executive director of administration support services Carolyn Hallsworth made $134,814, with $8,167 in taxable benefits.
Rainbow District School Board director of education Jean Hanson got paid $162,680, with $6,755 in taxable benefits.
Her counterpart at the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, Zandra Zubac, got paid $151,037, with $6,923 in taxable benefits.
Conseil Scolaire Catholique du Nouvel-Ontario director of education Helene Chayer got paid $153,687, with $8,509 in taxable benefits.
Conseil Scolaire District Public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario director of education Michel Robineau got paid $128,410, with $2,011 in taxable benefits.
Science North CEO James Marchbank got paid $153,375, with $17,948 in taxable benefits.
Sudbury MPP and Minister of Northern Development and Mines Rick Bartolucci made $125,641, with $223 in taxable benefits. Nickel Belt MPP Shelley Martel on the list, as she did not make more than $100,000.
Deputy Minister of Northern Development and Mines Suzanne Herbert made $219,711, with $21,353 in taxable benefits.
