Rain barrels distributed in Sudbury in 2012 are being recalled due to a potential manufacturing defect that could result in a leak around the bottom spigot, according to rainbarrels.ca.

Sudbury and area residents in possession of black-coloured rain barrels are encouraged to exchange them for new rain barrels on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Carl Nesbitt Public School, 1241 Roy St.

Residents should register their rain barrels for the free exchange program at www.RainBarrel.ca/recall or by calling 905-545-5577. Rainbarrel.ca said it apologizes for the inconvenience caused to its Sudbury customers.

The City of Greater Sudbury will not be hosting an annual rain barrel sale for 2013. A number of local non-profit organizations have filled the void by hosting truckload rain barrel fundraising sales.

Carl Nesbitt school is the first to host a 2013 truckload rain barrel fundraising sale, which will be held at the same time and location as the recall event.

New rain barrels will sell for $55, tax included. Details are available at http://rainbarrel.ca/rock/.
