Rainbow board honours staff, volunteers

A resource teacher at MacLeod Public School has been selected as the Rainbow District School Board?s teacher of the year. The William N. Roman Teacher of the Year will be presented to Chris Dodge Monday at 6:30 pm at Tom Davies Square.

The William N. Roman Teacher of the Year will be presented to Chris Dodge Monday at 6:30 pm at Tom Davies Square.

?I am constantly amazed by the depth of caring and commitment to children Chris displays on a daily basis in our school and as our special education resource teacher,? says Della Krieger, principal of MacLeod. ?She makes a tremendous impact on the lives of the students and staff, including mine.?

The public school board will honour three other staff members and two community members for their excellent work for students and the board Monday.

The Award for Excellence will be presented to Emma O?Leary, executive assistant to the director of education and to the chief financial officer.

Deborah Kosher and Don Bakker, community volunteers with Adamsdale Public School?s breakfast program, will be honoured for their outstanding contribution to the co-curricular program ? along with Cory Ross, a teacher at Jessie Hamilton Public School.

Ross is a teacher of Grade 7 and instrumental music. He spends much of his own time leading the concert and jazz bands at the school.

The Barbara Konarek Memorial Award will be presented to Lesley Flowers, principal of special education programs and services for the board.
