Rainbow Schools are encouraging Grade 8 students to begin making progress on the 40 hours of community service needed to graduate secondary school.

“We are recommending that students complete at least 10 hours of community service before they begin grade 9,” said Director of Education for the Rainbow District School Board Norm Blaseg.

The School board is also encouraging secondary school students to volunteer to not only benefit themselves, but the community as well. Volunteering also gives students the opportunity to explore career options, gain valuable work experience, and develop various other important skills.
