No amount of rain could break the spirit of the Marymount Regals on Thursday, March 31. The students braved the cold and pouring rain while going door-to-door for donations as a part of their annual #RegalsFightCancer campaign.
This year, the Regals chose to fundraise for the Northern Cancer Foundation and the NEO Kids Foundation. After drying off and tallying the funds, the students raised $7,612.
“Marymount Academy wrapped up their Regals Fight Cancer campaign with over 40 girls donating their hair and a number of teachers shaving their heads on Friday morning,” said Marika Moskalyk, a grade 12 student at Marymount Academy and #RegalsFightCancer Campaign Chair.
“As a soon-to-be graduated Regal, I can honestly say that the atmosphere at Marymount replicates that of a family, and events like this truly demonstrate our sense of community. I am incredibly proud to be a Regal, and so proud to give back to our city.”
“We at NEO Kids Foundation are so proud of the students at Marymount for braving the rain and canvassing the city to raise funds for two local charities,” said Patricia Mills, President of NEO Kids Foundation
“Their commitment goes beyond organizing various events throughout the week. They have given NEO Kids Foundation and Northern Cancer Foundation an incredible presence in our community by sharing our messages.”
“The Regals should be very proud of what they have accomplished with their campaign this year. Their dedication to fundraising for cancer care is truly remarkable,” said Tannys Laughren, Executive Director of the Northern Cancer Foundation.
“We would like to send out a huge thank you and congratulations to Marika and her team for organizing this event – it’s been an amazing process that we were happy to be a part of.”
