Bev Brisco has been named the Greater Sudbury Business & Professional Women's Club (BPW) Woman of the Month for April.

In her role in management within Sears for almost 20 years, Brisco worked diligently with people to contribute to local organizations and raise funds for various events while she took on various management roles throughout the Sudbury location.

She contributed to the growth and cause marketing strategies which included initiating a round-up program at Sears Sudbury with Better Beginnings, which to date has raised over $80,000.

Brisco was also team captain for the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life, and CIBC Run for the Cure as well as organized fundraising events at Sears for Kids With Cancer. She also participated as a representative for Sears at the Sears Drama Festival from 2000 to 2010.

Now retired, Brisco has not slowed down. She continues to contribute her time to various local organizations throughout the community.

Brisco was a board member member for Summerfest Foundation, helping to organize Summerfest and manage various aspects of the event.

She was an Angel in Pink of the Breast Cancer Equipment Fund for more than five years. To date, Angels in Pink has raised over $400,000 for the purchase of life saving equipment for our local Cancer Center.

Brisco has also been a board member of the Northern Cancer Foundation since 2013.

More recently, since 2016, Brisco has volunteered her time with the capital campaign for Maison McCullough Hospice and has chaired the hospice gala for the last two years.

Other activities she's involved in are New Sudbury Days, Keeping Seniors Warm, the Nickel Belt Liberal Riding Association, the fundraising committee for the new Ronald McDonald Room at HSN and the parish council at Holy Redeemer Parish.

In addition to her volunteer work, Bev is a member of BPW Greater Sudbury.

“With so many achievements and continued community contributions, women like Bev sometimes go unnoticed,” said Carol Stahl, president of BPW Greater Sudbury.

“Bev’s vibrant benevolent attitude is a gift to our group, and we are honoured and proud to have her as a member.”
