Upon first mention of Bloodstock 2006, one might presume it's a heavy metal festival.
It's actually a campaign initiated by Canadian Blood Services encouraging local Grades 11 and 12 students to win educational bursaries for successfully recruiting 25 blood donors from July 4 to Sept. 1, 2006.
"The demand for blood is constant," said Michelle Blais, a senior clinic co-ordinator with Canadian Blood Services, in a news release. "The summer months are a time when blood donations traditionally decline while the demand remains continual."
A number of local businesses have donated to the bursaries.
All students who wish to participate in Bloodstock 2006 should register before June 24 by phoning Blais at 688-7347. Winners will be announced Sept. 14.
