The Hanmer Landfill and Walden Small Vehicle Transfer Station will have their scales replaced from Aug. 8-12, during which the sites will remain open but scales will not be in operation.

Adjustments will be made to allow for continued acceptance of waste, the city noted in a media release.

Bypass gates will be used to provide access to the site and will be staffed by security. All chargeable loads will be assessed tipping fees based on flat rates set out on Page 69 of the city’s user fees bylaw, beginning at $3.25 for a load of six garbage containers or less.

Customers will be required to pay at the gate before entering the site. Delays can be expected as they enter and exit the scale house site, though internal site operations will remain unaffected.

The new scales are expected to be operational by Aug. 13, at which time all operations will return to normal.

The city urges those interested in more information to visit the city’s website at greatersudbury.ca or to phone their customer service like at 311.
