The Greater Sudbury Police Service is advising people to be on alert for a new scam.

Police say there have been reports of people receiving an email advising them that they have received a subpoena to attend court.

“You will never receive a subpoena by email,” GSPS said in a Facebook post this morning.

If you suspect you've received a fraudulent email, police say you should report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or by phoning 1-888-495-8501.
