The Sudbury Community Foundation capped off Giving Tuesday on Nov. 28 by handing out more than $35,000 in grants to community organizations as part of their fall grant celebration.

YES Theatre and the Sudbury Women's Centre were each recipients of $10,000 grants from the Social Investment Partnerships Sudbury (SIPS) Grant.

To date, SCF has granted out more than $1 million over the past 20 years. The Sudbury Community Foundation connects donors to important community needs.

SCF supports the work of all local charities through the granting program and initiate leadership projects that build the vitality and strength of Greater Sudbury.

Tuesday's grant celebration was the last for outgoing SCF executive director Brian Koivu, who will hand over the reins to Alexandra Curry.

"This is always a special celebration when we hold our fall and spring grant events," said Koivu. "All of these organizations that receive funding contribute so much to making Sudbury a better place to live, work, and play."

Sudbury Community Foundation board chair Janet Brady praised Koivu and Curry at the celebration.

"I really want to give a hand to Alex and Brian, who went above and beyond this year in securing these grants and doing so as quickly as they were able to," said Brady.
