Let someone in need fill your shoes this summer. The staff at the DeSimone Foot and Ankle Centre are collecting shoes for the second annual Shoe Drive next week during Foot Health Week.
All types of footwear will be accepted, provided they are in good condition.

Last year the shoe drive collected approximately 900 pairs of shoes. Organizers hope to double that number this year.

?We sent a challenge to all area schools to bring in as many shoes as possible,? said Julie DeSimone of the DeSimone Foot and Ankle Centre.

There is a need this year for some heavy-duty foot apparel, especially work boots, athletic shoes and children?s shoes.

Lack of proper footwear can cause serious foot problems, according to DeSimone.

All donations will be inspected and sanitized before the shoes are distributed to social service agencies.

Donations can be dropped off at the DeSimone Foot and Ankle Centre, 761 Lasalle Blvd. or St. Charles College. For more information, phone 560-FEET.
