A second Lasalle Secondary School student has tested positive for COVID-19, the Rainbow District School Board revealed in a letter posted on the board's website Nov. 9.

The individual who tested positive is currently self-isolating and is being monitored by Public Health Sudbury & Districts.

The board said that while the situation is evolving, Public Health has indicated that there is no evidence of transmission in the school at this time. Lasalle Secondary School remains open.

Students in two more classes have been asked to self-isolate immediately until Nov. 20. Students and their families, as well as relevant staff, have been notified by the school.

Public Health will directly contact all parents/guardians and all school personnel who have been identified as close contacts.

The latest case comes after the Rainbow board announced Lasalle's first COVID-19 case Nov. 8. Two classes associated with that student have also been asked to self-isolate — one until Nov. 18, and another until Nov. 19.
