A 73-year-old man on a mobility scooter was struck and killed in a motor vehicle incident on Sunday evening, according to a media release by Greater Sudbury Police Service.

A 73-year-old man on a mobility scooter was killed as the result of a collision with a motor vehicle on Lasalle Boulevard on Sunday night.

The incident took place at approximately 8:30 p.m., according to a media release issued by Greater Sudbury Police Service on Monday, at Lasalle Boulevard and Barrydowne Road.

First responders arrived and began life-saving measures on the man.

Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services transported him to the hospital, but he was pronounced deceased by medical professionals.

Police note that his name is not being released per his family’s wishes.

“Our deepest condolences go out to all those affected by this tragic event,” GSPS noted.

The collision is being investigated by the GSPS Traffic Management Unit.

Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the collision and no charges have been laid thus far, GSPS reported.
