Updated June 4 at 1:28 p.m.: Sudbury Hydro has advised that the six-hour power outage planned for Capreol on June 5 is cancelled. The utility said the inclement weather in the forecast is the reason for the cancellation. Hydro One has not set a new date to reschedule the outage. The work is necessary so Hydro One can relocate a power line at a railway crossing.

Original story

Local utilities have sent out notices saying that customers in the Capreol area will be without power for six hours on Saturday, June 5.

Hydro One said there is a planned power interruption for 1,622 customers in the area (townships of Capreol, Hanmer, Norman, Wahnapitae First Nation and Maclennan) that will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Greater Sudbury Hydro also said its customers in Capreol (1,530 of them) will be affected by the power interruption for the same period of time.

Hydro One (which in its notice said it is relocating a power line) is relocating equipment at a railway crossing, said Greater Sudbury Hydro.

Both utilities said their customers are being contacted about the planned power outage.
