Update: Burning structure led to fire on island in Whitson Lake, MNRF says

Updated Aug. 1 at 5:48 p.m.: The small, 0.1 hectare fire on an island in Whitson Lake is being blamed on a structure fire. A spokesperson with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry told Sudbury.com today flames from the burning structure spread to surrounding bush. The fire is under control.

Firefighters with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry have brought a small fire on an island in Whitson Lake under control.

The fire was reported over the noon hour, information provided by the ministry states. The fire is listed at 0.1 hectares in size.

Whitson Lake is located north of the city near Val Caron.
