The snow squall watch for Greater Sudbury has now been upgraded to a warning.
Environment Canada said snow squalls are expected beginning near noon today.
Expect heavy lake effect snow with accumulations of 20 to 30 centimetres and reduced visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow this afternoon through tonight and into Thursday morning.
Lake effect snow from Georgian Bay is forecast to affect the area beginning near noon today. Southerly winds gusting up to 50 km/h will result in local blowing snow, especially over exposed areas near Georgian Bay. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.
Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
