Environment Canada has updated the special weather statement calling for snow and freezing rain, to a major snowfall warning for the city and surrounding area.

Greater Sudbury is expected to receive 15-25 cm of snow between midnight tonight and Sunday evening, due to a low-pressure system from the midwest plain states.

Prepare for poor visibility and driving conditions for most of Sunday, with easterly gusting winds estimated to reach 20-40 km/h.

While the storm is expected to come to an end Sunday night, expect colder temperatures moving into next week.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
