The director of the group doing the soil study wants the advisers and participants in the review process not to dally.

At a meeting of the Sudbury Soil Study technical committee last week, the overseeing group for the three-year $5-million study, Chris Wren, director of the SARA Group, reminded reviewers of the data reports that they must be prompt in their analysis of the work.

He warned delays could bog down the smooth delivery of the final report on the health of Sudbury?s soil, air, water and citizens by the fall of 2005.

The SARA Group is responsible for the completion of the Sudbury Soil Study.

Despite recent media coverage concerning the possibility of delays, senior project manager Shawna Peddle told Northern Life she doesn?t expect the study to be delayed.

?We at SARA are keen on watching our budgets and timelines carefully and expect others involved in the study to do likewise,? she said.

?Wren was just raising a red flag at the technical advisory meeting to keep everybody alert from possibly slowing down the study process,? she said.

This week 64 residents and 15 commercial growers received the first scientific analysis results of the fertility of the soils by the SARA Group.
