With widespread snow likely for today, tonight and Tuesday, a special weather statement remains in effect for Greater Sudbury and vicinity.

An Alberta Clipper is forecast to sail across Northeastern Ontario tonight, said the advisory, issued by Environment Canada. Snow will begin today and continue into Tuesday as the clipper moves through.

The latest indications suggest total snowfall amounts in the 10 to 15 centimetres range in many areas by the time the snow tapers off to scattered flurries on Tuesday.

Snowfall amounts approaching 15 centimetres are possible in a few localities near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

A snowfall warning has been issued for the Espanola - Killarney region where snowfall amounts exceeding 15 centimetres in 12 hours appear most likely.

Poor winter driving conditions are expected from the general snowfall, and then from occasional low visibility in blowing snow from stiff and cold northerly winds on Tuesday.
