Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Greater Sudbury and the region.

A fast-moving, low-pressure system is packing freezing rain or ice pellets as it crosses the Great Lakes, which will be dumped into the region beginning later tonight.

Environment Canada has predicted several hours of freezing rain before a changeover to brief rain later tomorrow morning.

With freezing rain comes the danger of slippery slick roads hence drivers are urged to remain cautious and maintain a safe driving distance.
