Special Weather Statement issued for Greater Sudbury

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Greater Sudbury and the surrounding area in response to heavy rain overnight and strong winds Monday.

Precipitation, either rain or snow, will begin Sunday evening and transition to heavy rain overnight.

Rain will continue into Monday before changing to flurries Monday afternoon or early evening.

Total rainfall amounts between 20-30 mm are expected.

Strong westerly winds with gusts between 70 to 90 km/h are expected to develop Monday afternoon before gradually calming into the night. 

Wind expected to be the strongest along the shorelines of Lake Superior and Lake Huron.
