Batten down the hatches, Greater Sudbury, the forecast is calling for a significant amount of snowfall over today and tomorrow.

Environment Canada reports that snow from a trough approaching from the west will arrive today (Tuesday), with many areas receiving several centimetres by this evening. There will be a bit of a break in the snowfall tonight, before a Colorado low passes by just to the south of us, bringing with it more snow.

Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are likely today through Wednesday across the region.

The snow is likely to bring with it poor winter driving conditions due to low visibility and accumulating snow on unplowed roads. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destinations.

The snowfall warning criterion of 15 centimetres in 12 hours is not expected to be reached in this case, so there's that.
